Your privacy matters

Malayalam Chats is designed to require the minimum possible information to function. When you join a chat session we collect:

• Display name — the name you choose to appear as in the chat room.
• Age — used to ensure users meet the minimum age requirement of 13 years.
• Gender — used to display your profile in the user list.
• Online status — a real-time flag that shows other users whether you are currently active.

We do not collect your email address, phone number, home address, government ID, or any financial information.

The data we collect is used solely to operate the chat service:

• To display your profile in the live user directory so others can see you are online.
• To route messages between chat participants in real time.
• To enforce minimum age and community guidelines.

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing profiling, or any automated decision-making that affects you.

Your chat session is tied to an anonymous authentication token generated when you join. This token is stored temporarily in your browser's local storage and expires when you close the tab or log out.

Public messages sent in the chat room may be stored in our database for a short period to allow the conversation to load for active participants. Private or direct messages are not retained beyond the active session.

We do not maintain a permanent user account or history linked to your real identity.

Malayalam Chats uses browser local storage (not tracking cookies) to maintain your anonymous session token. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies.

If you clear your browser's local storage or use a private/incognito window, your session will reset and you will be asked to enter your details again on your next visit.

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the platform:

• Supabase — provides our backend database and real-time messaging infrastructure. Data is stored on Supabase's secure servers. See Supabase Privacy Policy.
• Google Fonts — loads the fonts used in our interface. Google may log the font request. See Google Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your data to any third party under any circumstances.

Malayalam Chats is not intended for children under the age of 13. We ask for age at sign-in and deny access to users who indicate they are under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with information, please use the contact form on our Contact page and we will remove it promptly.

We take reasonable technical measures to protect the data we hold, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our database. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure. Please do not share sensitive personal information — such as bank details, passwords, or your home address — in any public chat room.

You have the right to:

• Request deletion of any session data associated with your anonymous session.
• Ask what data we hold about a particular session (though we hold very little).
• Opt out at any time simply by closing the chat and clearing your browser's local storage.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Malayalam Chats after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
